Every funeral home hits a week when there are more cases than hands. Somebody is sick, somebody is on vacation, two calls came in the same night, and the services are already on the calendar. That’s what trade embalming is for.
Jerkins Mortuary Services provides trade embalming to licensed funeral homes across Southwest Virginia and the surrounding states. Richard Jerkins handles every case himself. We don’t subcontract it out.
How it works
Richard comes to your facility and works in your prep room. The decedent stays in your care the whole time, and the relationship with the family stays yours. Your name is the one on the service.
Call or text Richard at 336-380-3088 with the details of the case, and he’ll tell you when he can be there.
Who does the work
Richard is a licensed funeral director and embalmer with over 30 years in funeral service. He trained at mortuary college in Houston, Texas, and served his apprenticeship at a high-volume funeral home in Pasadena, Texas. From there he worked in family-owned and corporate funeral homes in Texas, North Carolina and Virginia. He is also a licensed crematory operator.
He holds licenses in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky.
When funeral homes call us
- Overflow, when there are more cases than your staff can get to.
- Staff out sick, on vacation, or dealing with a family emergency of their own.
- Nights and weekends, when your embalmer needs to be off.
- Between embalmers, while you hire.
- A hard case, when you want another set of experienced hands.
